Work Experience

Through the Work Experience program, students are employed for pay in business or industry, and they can earn Work Experience credit when the student, the employer, and the school district meet their respective responsibilities as outlined in the Work Permit Handbook for California Schools. Their jobs do not need to be related to a career goal or course of study at Pilarcitos High School. Students must attend class for instruction and counseling once a week for an entire class period. Pilarcitos students may be enrolled in work experience at any time during the year.Students are granted school credit on a variable credit system at Pilarcitos High School, based on the number of successful work hours completed during a semester. School credit is limited to a maximum of 40 work experience credits over all four years of high school, and not more than 30 of these credits may be granted towards graduation requirements at Pilarcitos High School.
